Diary of a plus sized model

I love my work as a plus sized model.  It is empowering and engaging.  I get to work with some great photographers , such as Ian Davidson ( https://www.iandavidsonphotography.com ) and some great locations, varying from small home studios to luxury hotels.  My main interest is in lingerie photography and I just love showing off my curves in some stunning satin undies or in a tight black dress that makes me look fantastic. 

I have joined a number of modelling sites such as Purple Port so that photographers can contact me.  I also make a lot of use of social media such as Instagram (goldenlady1984) and I have my own web site www.sexyspice36.com.  It is important to “get out there” as there is a lot of competition.  It is important to be seen and be loud! 

Photographers who are looking for a model will get in touch.  Good pre shoot communications are key to a successful shoot.  This involves a discussion on the type of pictures the photographer wants to achieve, the location and timing.  Good photographers have a clear idea of what they want to achieve.  I love it when I get to have creative input to the shoot and most photographers are keen to hear my ideas as any photoshoot is a partnership between the photographer and the model.   

Safey is key.  I only work with known photographers who have references on the model web sites and I verify the location of a shoot and I make sure one of my friends knows where I am and what time I am due back.  However, I have never had a problem and the photographers I work with are respectful and kind. 

I work hard on my makeup and hairstyle for a shoot, ensuring that not only do I look my best but that my appearance fits in with what the photographer is trying to achieve.  I always take a wide range of outfits and lingerie to make the most of my plus sized, gorgeous  figure and give the photographer as many options as possible. 

When I arrive at a shoot I take a few minutes to get to know the photographer, unless they are one of my many regulars and to break the ice a bit.  Then it is down to work.  Posing is key.  While the majority of photographers are experienced; I am happy to work with new or amateur creatives.  So, in some cases the picture taker will tell me what they want; in the best shoots it is a collaborative effort between the photographer and me.  Some of my regular photographers help me understand the importance of the shapes I make with my body, the curves and angles as we work towards the best possible outcomes.  Having undertaken a lot of model shoots I have a fairly good idea what the photographer is likely to want. 

Shoots can last between two hours and an entire day.  Because I enjoy modelling so much the time just flies by and often there are far more ideas floating around than there is time in the shoot schedule.  Again the best photographers will send me a shoot schedule in advanced giving an outline time table of the day.  I love visiting different locations, although I have to say that my favourite are luxury hotels as they often have stunning bathrooms to get changed in and shower if needed and room service for tea and snacks! 

I also love reviewing the photographs after the shoot.   Some photographers take hundreds of photographs during a shoot and we pick the best while some photographers take a long time over each shot, so they produce fewer photographs but each is of a high quality. 

I love showing off my body and find it just so empowering.  Being body positive is an important part of self esteem and good mental health.  Being a plus sized model is the “best me”.  I am in control  at all times and it is a powerful and exhilarating feeling – I just love being a plus size model.
